Magiera Named Vice President for University Advancement at FGCU
FORT MYERS, FL - Steve Magiera of Naples has been named vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation.
“I am honored to continue serving as vice president for University Advancement on a more permanent basis,” Mageira said.
“We have a strong program, and I am committed to working closely with the dynamic Foundation Board and the talented staff to promote the growth of our great University.”
Magiera served as interim vice president since June when Bob Quatroche resigned the position for health and family reasons.
He previously served as chief financial officer of the FGCU Foundation and assistant vice president for Administrative Services.
During his eight-year tenure, Magiera was also the FGCU Foundation’s director of finance and the University’s assistant controller.
“I am pleased to appoint Steve Magiera to lead the University Advancement area,” President William C. Merwin said.
“His strong leadership skills and business acumen are already serving the University well, and I have every confidence that he will take Advancement to its next level of success.”
Before joining FGCU, Magiera was auditor-in-charge for the Indiana State Board of Accounts in Indianapolis.
Magiera earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Indiana University and a Master of Science in accounting and taxation from FGCU. Magiera is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Endowment Institute.
