FGCU Testing Center Now Offers Free CLEP Testing for Military Personnel
FORT MYERS, FL - Beginning Feb. 16, Florida Gulf Coast University will deliver to military personnel the College-Level Examination Program exams at the FGCU Testing Center. The exam fee is funded by the Military and Service members will pay only a $10 registration fee.
CLEP offers 34 subject tests that allow examinees to show their knowledge in specific areas and gain college credit. The regular costs are $50 for exams and $20 for registration.
“For FGCU to participate in the military testing program is an exciting opportunity to provide an important service to military service members,” director of Testing and Assessment Janet Ullman said. “This is the first time that military personnel have been given the opportunity to take funded CLEP exams on the computer.”
Those eligible for the waiver include active and reserve duty personnel in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard, and the Army and Air National Guards.
Military civilian employees and spouses of participating Reserve components and Coast Guard personnel are eligible. Department of Defense acquisition personnel are eligible for computer-based exams in three subjects.
The FGCU Testing Center is an open CLEP site for the general public and students from other institutions.
The FGCU Testing Center offers computer examinations which provides instant score reports, access to all exams and flexible testing schedules. Computer examinations are particularly beneficial to National Guard units and Reserve components, who often do not live near a military base. All exams are provided by appointment.
