FGCU Announces Four Finalists for Provost's Position; Campus Visits Next Week
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University announces four finalists for the position of provost and vice president for Academic Affairs and campus visitations by each beginning next week.
"I am pleased to announce that four finalists have been selected by the FGCU search committee for the permanent position of provost and vice president for Academic Affairs," President William C. Merwin said.
"They are all outstanding candidates and I look forward to their coming to campus during April for formal interviews and a variety of open forum opportunities for faculty, staff and students to talk with them."
By visitation schedule, finalists are:
· Bonnie Yegidis, associate vice president for Academic Affairs and associate provost at University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. Yegidis will visit FGCU Monday and Tuesday, April 12-13.
· Sue Martin, associate vice president for Academic Affairs at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. Martin will visit FGCU Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-15.
· Joe Sheley, dean of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at California State University-Sacramento. Sheley will visit FGCU Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21-22.
· Bob Houston, vice president for Academic Affairs at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. Houston will visit FGCU Monday and Tuesday, April 26-27.
Each candidate will participate in forums with FGCU faculty, staff and students, and attend interview and discussion sessions with the President's direct reports, vice presidents, deans, the Faculty Senate leadership team, the Divisions of Enrollment and Student Services, the search committee, provost staff, and with an FGCU Foundation board member.
FGCU will host individual receptions for each candidate with members of the President's executive group, deans council and search committee.
FGCU's current provost and vice president for Academic Affairs Brad Bartel will vacate the position May 1. He has accepted the position of president at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.
