FGCU Chooses Architect to Design WCI Green Building
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University announces the design and engineering firm Astorino will plan the WCI Green Building Demonstration and Learning Center scheduled to open fall 2005 on the FGCU campus.
Astorino specializes in architecture, engineering and interior design that utilizes sustainable design. The company is a pioneer in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification process.
Astorino achievements include more than 3 million square feet of sustainable design projects and more than 1 million square feet of LEED Gold or Silver certified projects. Other Astorino projects now in the completion process include the Carnegie Mellon University at Qatar and the National Energy Technology Laboratories at Morgantown and Pittsburgh.
Astorino is affiliated with the United States Green Building Council, Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, Co-op Business America, Council for Sustainable Florida and the Green Building Alliance.

The WCI Green Building Demonstration and Learning Center is an FGCU-community partnership created to foster environmentally sustainable and healthy building, housing and landscape practices in Southwest Florida through demonstration projects and educational outreach programs.
In addition, the WCI Green Building will host the 2004 Building Green Product Fair and Workshop series July 29 in Alico Arena. Ongoing programs include educational outreach, builder and construction industry training, and community outreach.
