Governor Announces New Appointee to FGCU Board of Trustees
FORT MYERS, FL - Gov. Jeb Bush announces he has appointed Jaynie M. Whitcomb of Bonita Springs to the Board of Trustees of Florida Gulf Coast University.
Whitcomb replaces Linda Taylor of Fort Myers who was named earlier this year to the State Board of Education by the governor.
Whitcomb has been a director in telecommunications for 22 years. She was a channel director for NextiraOne, a Platinum Equities global telecommunications company that distributes Nortel, Cisco and Alcatel products. Her career started with Williams Companies where she served in various national management positions for North America. At Williams Companies, Whitcomb achieved "President's Club" for 15 consecutive years and twice received the "Circle of Excellence" award.
Prior work experience includes Pan American World Airways where Whitcomb was director of Marketing. She has been a librarian and classroom teacher, and served on the Kansas Public School State Accreditation Board.
Currently, Whitcomb serves on the board of directors of the David Lawrence Foundation.
Whitcomb earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
Whitcomb resides in Bonita Springs with her husband Stanley. She has two sons in Atlanta.
