Juvenile Justice Board Selects FGCU's O'Brien as Chair
FORT MYERS, FL - The Juvenile Justice Board of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit recently selected Sandra O'Brien, director of the Center for Public and Social Policy and assistant professor of public affairs at Florida Gulf Coast University, as chair for 2004-05.
O'Brien will have a direct impact on the juvenile justice system including policy and programs in the region and statewide.
The circuit board identified several priorities to undertake during O'Brien's leadership including furthering the community justice ideal, increasing prevention and intervention capacity, establishing additional gender specific programming, increasing the number of juvenile probation officers and increasing the assessment capacity for juveniles.
The Twentieth Judicial Circuit serves Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties.
