FGCU ELLM Project Participates in Naples Children and Education Foundation Day Nov. 12
FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University Early Learning and Literacy Model participates in the Naples Children and Education Foundation Day, Friday, Nov. 12 at the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee to show how funds received from NCEF for the ELLM project benefit children in Collier County.
In the activity tent at the event, ELLM plans to feature its Alphabet Song, have books for reading to children and have an area for children to build letters that they can keep.
NCEF's theme for the day is "Building a Better Future."
"We are building a better future by building a strong foundation through early literacy and readiness skills to be successful readers," ELLM project director Debby Shaver said. "As a beneficiary, we are going to celebrate the money that was granted to us going directly to 49 classrooms."
Last year, FGCU received a $750,000 grant from NCEF for the ELLM project.
