International Praeger Publishers Names FGCU Professor
as Forensic Psychology Series Editor
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University announces Duane L. Dobbert, associate professor and coordinator of Criminal Forensic Studies, has been selected as the Forensic Psychology Series Editor at Praeger Publishers.
Praeger Publishers, a member of the Greenwood Publishing Group in Westport, Conn., is internationally recognized as the most prestigious imprint in the social sciences and humanities since 1949.
The appointment is a career-long post and Dobbert's name and affiliation with Florida Gulf Coast University appears on the dust jacket and inside rear cover of every forensic psychology title published internationally.
In his role as Forensic Psychology Series Editor, Dobbert approves proposals from authors to write any forensic psychology title and recommends them for publishing under the guidance of the Scholar-Practitioner model he developed.
Dobbert also identifies the best authors and editors for each title in the Series and has final approval of the content prior to submission to the Praeger Board.
Dobbert has more than 35 years of professional experience in the criminal justice system, including the area of forensic psychology, and has conducted thousands of interviews with sexual predators to identify precursor behaviors shown by people preparing to act on disordered thinking.
Last year, Praeger published Dobbert's book "Halting the Sexual Predators Among Us: Preventing Attack, Rape, and Lust Homicide," the only book of its kind in America, Dobbert said. The book received international recognition and endorsement, including Oxford University's British Journal of Criminology in September 2005.
Dobbert is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychological Specialties.
