FGCU Announces New Officers, Members of Foundation Board
FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Inc. announced its new slate of officers and incoming board members for 2006-2007 at its quarterly meeting Wednesday at FGCU.
Joseph Catti is named chairman of the FGCU Foundation Board for a third term. Catti became a member of the FGCU Foundation in 1999. A native of Miami, he received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida International University in 1983. He joined Northern Trust Bank in Dade County in 1989 and moved to Lee County in 1992. In his position as FGCU Foundation Board chairman, Catti serves as chairman of the executive committee, representative of the Foundation at public and social functions, a financial officer, and presides over all Foundation meetings.
Duane Stranahan Jr. is named vice chairman of the FGCU Foundation Board for a third term. Stranahan is a retired attorney and a seven-year veteran of the FGCU Foundation Board. He is president and director of Stradum Inc. and Hydro-Winwell Inc. In his post as vice chairman of the FGCU Foundation Board, Stranahan serves as chairman of the Development Committee.
Stephen McIntosh is named treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board after serving a term as secretary. McIntosh is a professional management consultant. As the FGCU Foundation Board treasurer, he serves as chairman of the Finance Committee.
Joseph Shepard is named assistant treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board. Shepard is vice president for Administrative Affairs at FGCU.
Peter Sulick is named secretary of the FGCU Foundation Board. Sulick is president and chief executive officer of AmerSite LLC, a family owned real estate development and investment entity. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2002.
Along with new officers, the FGCU Foundation Board also elected five new members to four-year terms including chairman of Alico Inc. John Alexander, vice chairman and president of Sanibel Captiva Trust Company Chip Lesch, chief executive officer and vice chairman of HMA Joseph Vumbacco, president and chief executive officer of Chico's FAS Inc. Scott Edmonds, and chief executive officer of Kitson & Partners Sid Kitson.
Additionally, Peter Sidell was approved to serve a second four-year term as a Board member.
The purpose of the FGCU Foundation is to support the educational mission of the University. The FGCU Foundation encourages, solicits, receives and administers gifts for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the advancement of the University.
