FGCU Center for Civic Engagement Launches Web Site to Help Volunteers Explore Opportunities
5/17/2007

FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University Center for Civic Engagement, in association with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Charlotte-Collier-Lee-Sarasota VISTA Consortium, announced the recent launch of Volunteer Southwest Florida, a Web site featuring volunteer opportunities, volunteer nonprofit news and nonprofit agency event listings.

"Volunteer Southwest Florida will help people connect with volunteer opportunities that match their passion and interests," said director of the FGCU Center for Civic Engagement Linda Summers. "With more than fifty agencies listing volunteer opportunities in Collier County alone, we believe that Volunteer Southwest Florida has something for every volunteer interest."

It is anticipated that additional volunteer opportunities will increase as volunteers and agencies begin using the Volunteer Southwest Florida Web site.

Potential volunteers can explore volunteer opportunities by visiting the Volunteer Southwest Florida homepage at http://www.fgcu.edu/connect/volswfl/. Nonprofit agencies are also encouraged to visit the Web site to list their volunteer opportunities.

For more information about the Web site, contact Dave Wurm at (239) 590-7026 or dwurm@fgcu.edu.
