FGCU Announces Compliance Specialist Program is in Demand
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University College of Professional Studies is the first in the nation to offer a new Graduate Compliance Specialist Program specifically geared to train entry level compliance officers.
Many organizations are now implementing compliance programs and hiring internal compliance officers as a result of stricter corporate laws and regulations. Christian and Timbers, a leading executive search firm listed chief compliance officer as the number three "hot job" for last year.
The compliance specialist works in the organization's compliance program to determine whether business operations comply with laws and rules. The Graduate Compliance Specialist Program at FGCU covers the theory, process and practice of compliance issues.
The five-course certificate program at FGCU is a one-year intensive program that blends distance learning with intensive weekend classes, where students learn about the profession and network with current professionals. Classes begin in April, August and October 2008.
This program is credentialed by the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (SCCE) and Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA). Graduates of this program qualify to sit for SCCE and HCCA exams to become Certified Compliance Specialists.
Guest lecturers include nationally recognized compliance officers, internal and external general counsel for large and small organizations, retired judges and regulatory professionals covering a variety of industries and government regulatory agencies, complemented by FGCU faculty in the College of Professional Studies, Lutgert College of Business and College of Health Professions.
