FGCU Department of Visual and Performing Arts Presents
"2008 Celebration of the Arts"
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents "2008 Celebration of the Arts," annual showcase for the talents of FGCU's fine art and theater students. The student art show opens 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 9 at the FGCU Arts Complex. Exhibition of senior student work, art, music, food and pottery sale will continue until the 8 p.m. opening of the theatre lab's production of "Omnium Gatherum." Exhibitions and performances continue throughout April.
The theatre lab's production "Omnium Gatherum" is written by Alexandra Geersten-Vassilaros and Theresa Rebeck. The play is an insightful, entertaining and often hard-hitting look at the American milieu in a post 9/11 world. An evening dinner party that is more than it appears brings together a wildly diverse group of characters who in their hilarious and often poignant search for common ground, manage to explore the current state of the American civilization from pulp fiction to foreign policy.
Performances are Wednesday through Sunday from April 9-20. Curtain opens at 8 p.m. for all performances except Sunday. Tickets are available by calling (239) 590-7268.
