FGCU Awards 34 Tuition Scholarships for the Teacher Immersion Program
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University, through grants from the Florida Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education, recently awarded 34 post-graduates tuition scholarships to complete FGCU's state-approved alternative teacher certification program.
The Teacher Immersion Program (TIP) consists of nine courses and several workshops (taught via a flexible schedule), which prepare qualified candidates for their Florida Professional Educator's Certificate. Three of the courses provide nine graduate credits that may be applied toward a master's degree.
FGCU is now recruiting for its TIP spring 2009 cohort, for which federal grant funding will be available to qualified applicants. The next free informational workshop on teacher certification will be held 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 17, in Reed Hall 249. Visit the TIP website at http://coe.fgcu.edu/tip.html for more details.
