FGCU Small Business Development Center Presents Florida SBDC Network SBIR/STTR Proposal Development Workshop, March 18-19

FORT MYERS, FL - The Small Business Development Center and SBDC Network at Florida Gulf Coast University present the 2009 Florida SBDC Network SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Development Workshop and Regional Conference designed for small businesses, economic development professionals, and other business service providers, Wednesday-Thursday, March 18-19 in FGCU's Athletics Complex Conference Room.

The two-day workshop is facilitated by Jim and Gail Greenwood of Greenwood Consulting. Representatives from the Florida SBDC Network, BioFlorida and the Florida PTAC program will provide guidance and information on how to establish joint research relationships with universities, prepare business plans, understand contract requirements, explain the mentor-protege program, obtain federal funding, and other related topics.

Workshop instructors, along with SBIR/STTR program managers, will provide their agency overview and information on eligibility requirements on SBIR (Small Business Innovation Resource) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs, and how to prepare the proposals for federal funding.

The federal government has provided funding to small businesses engaged in innovative research through the SBIR Program since 1982. It has committed $2.5 billion for this year to provide SBIR/STTR Phase 1 awards of up to $100,000 dollars, and up to $750,000 dollars per project to small businesses in Phase II.

Cost for the two-day registration is $75 before March 6; $100 after March 6; $125 at the door.
