FGCU Bower School of Music Presents "The 2009 President's Concert" March 13
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Bower School of Music presents its third annual President's Concert, 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13 in the Student Union ballroom. The concert is free and open to the public.
This year's concert is in honor of FGCU President Wilson G. Bradshaw, and features performances by FGCU students.
The first round of the competition for the privilege of performing at this concert was held in December, and finals were held in February. Eleven students from a field of 65 were selected to perform.
Students selected are Francesca da Silva, junior from Punta Gorda, oboe; Roland Forti, sophomore from Bradenton, violin; J. Hutchins Haines, freshman from Atlanta, voice; Satoko Hayami, junior from Japan, piano; Hyae-jin Hwang, junior from South Korea, piano; Randy Lozano, freshman from Fort Myers, voice; Faith Sam, senior from Grand Junction, Colo., piano; Anthony Schons, junior from Marion, Iowa, horn; Farron Vassen, junior from Grand Junction, Colo., piano; Dawn Whittington, junior from Estero, trumpet; and Lillian Wiles, freshman from Melbourne, voice.
Classical works of Chopin, Tosti, Vivaldi, Schumann, Donizetti, Marcello, Ewazen, Liszt, Mozart, Quilter and Granados will be performed by the students.
