FGCU Students Sponsor Fundraiser to Benefit Family of Instructor Killed in Car Crash
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University students in the PGA Golf Management Program will offer free golf lessons as part of a fundraising effort to benefit the family of FGCU instructor Drew Pearson, killed in an automobile accident on December 29, to be held from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 21 at Miromar Lakes Golf Club at the practice facility next to Miromar Outlets and Germain Arena. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.
Activities include free 15-minute golf lessons provided by FGCU PGA Golf Management students.
Additionally, sports memorabilia will be raffled off to ticket holders as well as rounds of golf from Southwest Floridaís top golf courses. Food and beverages will also be available on site.
All donations can be made payable to the "Drew Pearson Memorial." Donations may also be mailed to PO Box 903, Estero, FL 33928.
Pearson was tragically killed in an automobile accident the same day his daughter Peyton was born. Upon hearing of his passing, students in Pearsonís class felt compelled to honor their teacher with a fundraising event to benefit the late instructor's family. At the time of his death, Pearson was in the last year of completing a master's degree at FGCU.
