FGCU Biology Club Embarks on Campaign to Establish Lasting Scholarship Fund
FORT MYERS, FL - The new FGCU Biology Club at Florida Gulf Coast University is focused on establishing an endowed scholarship fund that will financially assist qualified biology majors. Scholarships from the "FGCU Biology Club Scholarship Fund" will be awarded once the fund reaches a gift level of $10,000.
Meeting with club members and faculty advisors, FGCU President Wilson G. Bradshaw shared his personal experiences as a biology major and thanked them for undertaking this altruistic endeavor to financially assist and encourage future biology students.
Club president Seth Thomas stated, "As a proud member and president of the FGCU Biology Club, it is a distinct honor and privilege to embark on this campaign to raise monetary support for FGCU students whose academic major is the study of life--biology."
Faculty club advisor and assistant professor Anna Goebel said the club is a valuable asset to FGCU. "These dedicated individuals have a unique perspective on the needs of their fellow biology students. They plan to not only assist students financially, but to also provide a data base for career information in the diverse fields of the biological sciences and identify locally available internships for students. In addition, they hope to start mentorship programs for students and early-career biologists."
