FGCU Announces First Graduates from PGA Golf Management Program
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University's PGA Golf Management Program will graduate its first class during fall commencement exercises 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 at Alico Arena.
The program's 13 seniors will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Golf Management and will be elected to Class A Membership in the PGA of America.
Florida Gulf Coast University's PGA Golf Management Program is one of only 20 schools accredited by the PGA nationally, and one of only two in the state of Florida. The program is designed to provide the skill and knowledge base necessary for future golf professionals to succeed in a wide variety of positions within the industry.
In addition to meeting university requirements, the graduating seniors also had to meet PGA requirements by passing the PGA's 36-hole Player Ability Test, completing 16 months of internships, and passing three levels of rigorous PGA testing.
To date, students have accepted positions at golf facilities both locally at Tiburon Golf Club, Country Club of the Everglades, The Hideout, Gateway Golf and Country Club and The Club at Grandezza; and nationally at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, and Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
The graduates are Jason M. Becker, Ryan A. Berger, Nicholas D. Catanese, Ryan P. Coll, Brady W. Fennel, Jennifer A. Labrie, Joey J. Lewis, Thomas R. Mayer, Eric M. Nadelman, Louise C. Skelly, Stuart N. Thomas, Federico G. Torresani and Travis P. Wilson.
There are currently 120 students enrolled in FGCU's PGA Golf Management Program.
