FGCU Hosts This Week in Virology, a live Netcast about Viruses on "Dengue in Florida"
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Whitaker Center and the Honors Program present "Dengue in Florida," a live netcast from This Week in Virology (TWiV) from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6 in Academic Building 7, Room 114. The event is open to the public.
The goal of the netcast is to have an informal conversation about viruses, particularly the recent re-emergence of dengue fever in Florida that is accessible to a general audience. Afterwards, the live discussion will be available online as a downloadable podcast from TWiV at http://www.twiv.tv/.
The live netcast will originate from FGCU and will be lead by Vincent Racaniello, Professor of Microbiology at Columbia University Medical Center; Rich Condit, Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at University of Florida; and joining via SKYPE is Alan Dove, a science journalist.
In addition, Florida Keys Mosquito Control District Director Edsel Fussel; Deputy Director and Entomologist Andrea Leal; and senior Entomologist Lawrence Hribar will participate in the live discussion. They will provide the point of view from the trenches in the battle against dengue fever in Florida.
