FGCU Florida Institute of Government, College of Education Host "Children's Mental Health Conference," Oct. 22

FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University's Florida Institute of Government and College of Education present "The First Children's Mental Health Conference" 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 at the FGCU Student Union Ballroom to create an alliance between mental health professionals and the community. FGCU’s Florida Institute of Government plans to hold the event annually.

Problems resulting from mental health disorders in children can include misbehavior, school failure, suicide, school dropout, substance abuse and more.

This conference will address some of the problems associated with mental health disorders in children and youth, and will provide insight about what the community can do to make a difference in their lives.

Workshops include diagnosis and treatment in adolescent psychiatry, Lee County Schools ESE & Services, helping children with bipolar disorder succeed at home, school and beyond.

Cost to attend is $25 ($40 with 5 contact hours), includes light continental breakfast and box lunch.
