FGCU College of Arts & Sciences Invites Media to Meet Astrophysicist, Examine NASA Artifacts, Oct. 19

WHAT Meet Derek Buzasi, Ph.D., Whitaker Eminent Scholar and astrophysicist; and Paul Bartrop, Ph.D., history professor and Director of the Center for Judaic, Holocaust
and Human Rights Studies; view recently acquired NASA artifacts and photos taken through the telescope in the Evelyn L. Egan Astronomical Observatory.

WHY Meet two prominent new FGCU faculty members - highly regarded astrophysicist and Whitaker Eminent Scholar Derek Buzasi, who has worked on equipment for the Hubble Space Telescope and the Wide-Field Infrared Satellite Explorer (WISE), resulting in a bonanza of new findings about space; and noted Holocaust expert Paul Bartrop, history professor and Director of the Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Human Rights Studies, who comes to FGCU from Australia.
In addition, media representatives may get an up-close look at artifacts NASA has awarded the University, including a tile array used to protect the space shuttle from heat and equipment used to connect the shuttle to central command. Also on display will be stunning photographs from a high-resolution camera used in conjunction with FGCU's Ritchey-Chretien reflective telescope. News media will have the opportunity to tour the observatory.
