Christal Niemeyer is the Program Assistant for the Coastal Watershed Institute at Florida Gulf Coast University. She is responsible for maintaining office files, for tracking accounts and records, and for ordering supplies for Institute projects involving field and laboratory research. Christal graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Systems Science from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2002. Her internship research project with the South Florida Water Management District involved studying the stratigraphy and paleoenvironmental context from cores taken from the Pliocene Tamiami Formation in Lee County, Florida. Christal has also worked with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, collecting water quality data for its Coastal Watershed Management project and monitoring sea-grass bed health along the Caloosahatchee River.
