Lacey Smith is a marine science laboratory manager and is responsible for scheduling, directing, and coordinating marine field and laboratory operations. Lacey was the first graduate from the Marine Science program at FGCU, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. Her senior internship work was done through the FGCU Marine Lab and focused on the influence of freshwater inflow on the habitat value of oyster reefs in local estuaries, an ongoing research program at the Institute. Lacey taught marine and environmental science courses at Cape Coral High School for four years before returning to FGCU to join the Institute.
