Amy Swingle

Amy Swingle

Amy is originally from Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.  She completed her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Central Michigan University and worked for the University Recreation department as a graduate assistant.  After two years in the cold, Amy headed south to Texas which became her second home. She worked at the University of Texas for two years and then Sam Houston State University for 11 years; gaining great experience in Campus Recreation.  Before joining the team at FGCU, Amy worked for 4 ½ years at Mississippi University for Women, building a program and constructing the Stark Recreation Center. 

Jason Davis

Jason is originally from Indiana, but has lived in such places as rural Texas, east Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Florida.  After attending the University of Tennessee, he transferred to Indiana University and graduated with a degree in Psychology.  After graduation, Jason pursued a career in marine mammal behavioral training and research.  This career took him from the frigid winters of the Midwest to the tropical climate of the Florida Keys.  After several years in the Keys, Jason decided that it was time for a career change.  In 2003, he moved to Massachusetts and obtained a degree in Movement Science from Westfield State College.  He has since obtained a Master's degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism from the University of Illinois.

Jason now holds numerous fitness certifications, including:  NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-HFI, Spinning, and is also a PADI Rescue Diver and a USATF Level II Running Coach.  Jason manages all aspects of FGCU Fitness and oversees Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.  He also designs and implements Fitness programming such as Fitlab and Ultimate Fitlab.  Come by the Recreation Center and talk with Jason today!

Jodie Lefferts

Jodie Lefferts

Jodie is originally from Illinois and graduated from Buena Vista University in northwest Iowa with a degree in Commercial Recreation.  Besides Illinois and Iowa, she has lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina before settling in Florida in 2004.  After a variety of career experiences, she is happy to be the administrative assistant for Campus Recreation supporting the staff with the multitude of programs that are offered.

Emma Reeners

Emma is originally from Rochester, New York where she attended The College at Brockport, a State University of New York.  Following her passion for aquatics and programming, she received her Masters in Recreation and Leisure Services Management with a focus in Aquatics.  Emma is very active and has been playing Ice Hockey for 12 years.  Go Sabres!

Suzanne Ries

Suzanne is a Michigan native where she attended Spring Arbor University. She graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Recreation Administration. She also served as the Women’s Intramural Director at SAU, beginning her passion for university recreation. Suzanne completed her Masters Degree in Recreation and Parks Administration at Central Michigan University while also serving as a Graduate Assistant for University Recreation. Prior to joining the FGCU Campus Recreation staff in August 2010, Suzanne worked at Mississippi University for Women for four years where she helped establish a campus recreation program and opened the Stark Recreation Center.

Steve is a native of sunny South Florida and a proud graduate of Florida State University. After completion of his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from FSU, he began putting his education and zest for adventure to work. He has worked as an outdoor education instructor in the mountains of Virginia, an adaptive ski/snowboard instructor in Park City, Utah, an adventure trip leader in North Florida, and a human resources coordinator at a small ski resort in Washington state.  

As an avid outdoor recreation enthusiast, Steve believes that Florida's natural beauty and environment is a perfect setting for the students of FGCU to learn, recreate, and pursue adventure. When not busy working at the waterfront or leading adventure trips, you may find Steve kayaking the back bays and rivers of southwest Florida!  

Julia Stulock

Julia is a Michigan native and graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she earned her degree in psychology. Having been very involved in sport clubs as an undergrad, Julia then decided to pursue her Master’s Degree in Sport Management at the University of Connecticut. She worked as a graduate assistant for UConn’s club sports program for two years, and remained an active member of the UConn running club during that time. Julia also serves on the Executive Board for the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association, where she oversees team membership.

Richard Sullivan

Richard is a Vermont native and a graduate of Champlain College in Burlington Vt., earning a degree in Business Management and was the Senior Account/Purchasing Agent for a Property Insurance Agency for 26 years. After retiring from Insurance, Richard came to Estero in 2004 and began employment at FGCU as the SG Office Assistant, then moved to Auxillary Services in 2005. He moved to Camus Recreation in August 2006, where he assists with various tasks.
