The Lee County/FGCU Aquatics Center features two outdoor pools. Our 50 meter pool contains 8 long course lanes or 20 short course lanes, perfect for lap swimmers. We also have a 25 yard, 8-lane pool with both 3 and 1 meter diving boards, ideal for the recreational user. The Aquatics Center is also the home venue four the Florida Gulf Coast University Women’s Swimming & Diving Team.
The Auxiliary Gym contains one basketball/volleyball court and is located on the second level of Alico Arena. This space is controlled and reserved through Athletics, however Campus Recreation helps manages the space for Intramurals, Sport Clubs, and informal recreation.
Eagle Challenge Course
Set amongst 10 acres of green fields and pockets of pine uplands and oak hammocks, the Odyssey-II course features high and low elements, and one of the longest zip lines on a college campus in Florida. The ECC is our only off-campus facility, located at FGCU's Buckingham property: 5820 Buckingham Road, Fort Myers, 33905.
We have approximately 6 acres of multi-purpose field space. Our largest field, Rec Field 1 is located within the main campus loop and is primarily used for our Intramural Sports program and Sport Clubs. Sport Clubs also utilize Rec Field 2, located in South Village. Both fields are also heavily used for informal recreation and special events throughout the year.
ROC (Recreation Outdoor Complex)
The ROC opened in January 2010 and is located adjacent to Alico Arena & the FGCU Tennis Complex. The lighted outdoor facility includes 2 basketball courts, 2 sand volleyball courts, and some green space with an outdoor functional training station. Participants can checkout equipment for the ROC at the front desk in the Recreation Center.
The 9,000 square foot Recreation Center includes the Fitness Center, Group Fitness Studio, and the Strength & Conditioning Room. Our Fitness Center is comprised of 25 cardio training pieces including, treadmills, elliptical, upright & recumbent bikes, and rowing machines. The facility also features Matrix selectorized strength equipment, along with a free-weight area equipped with dumbbells and plate loaded strength training equipment.
Our newest facility, the South Village (SoVi) Pool is located adjacent to Osprey Hall. The resort style pool has a zero-depth entry, and features a water volleyball area, large deck space, and a grilling area. Although located with a Housing area, the pool is open to all current students, faculty, and staff.
The Waterfront is located on campus within North Lake Village and offers a variety of activities including kayaks, paddleboards, sailboats, tubing, cornhole, swimming, or lying in the sun with friends.
