Bioluminescence Canoeing @ Indian River

 Discover the wonders of bioluminescence with Outdoor Pursuits as we paddle Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. With every paddle stroke, fish swimming by, and movement in the water will produce beautiful bioluminescent light from the Pyodinium bahamense dinoflagellate. This location and Puerto Rico are the only two places in the United States that you can experience this phenomenon.

Join Outdoor Pursuits for our Annual Springs Trip. This year we will be exploring Rainbow River and its headsprings. Rainbow River is abundant with fish and botanical life while boasting crystal clear and cool water. The area shows use dating back to nearly 10,000 years ago. You won't want to miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in this incredible ecosystem.

Need a little excitement in your life? Well, this day trip is for you. We will be heading up to beautiful St. Petersburg to do some sailing on the bay for the morning. Then, after getting your fill of sun and waves we will be heading to spend the afternoon doing some indoor rock climbing.

Come spend the day with Outdoor Pursuits as we hike the Little Manatee River Trail. This is one of Central Florida's most beautiful trails. Enjoy the botanical diversity as we travel through six different habitats through the 6 mile trail.

Annual Winter Break Ski Trip @ Sugar Mountain, NC

Payment Information

Must pay a deposit of $150 to secure spot by November 11th, 2015 at time of registration. The final remainding payment of $275 is due by November 19th, 2015. Cost may be paid in full at time of registration.

Pre-Trip Meeting

Some may call us crazy, but every year Outdoor Pursuits will take a group of students away from the sunny paradise we call home in search of cold, powdery snow. This is an annual favorite for most students that includes 3 days of either skiing or snowboarding at the beautiful Sugar Mountain Ski Resort in Banner Elk, North Carolina

 

***The S.C.U.B.A. program is an instructional course and not part of our trip program***

Want to get S.C.U.B.A. Open Water certified? Come do it with Outdoor Pursuits here on campus. Course registration fee includes manual, dive tables, log book, certification card, use of a regulator, bouyancy compensator, tanks, pool usage, 4 check out dives (2 on campus and 2 on east coast) and transportation to the east coast for the check out dives. Participants need to provide their own mask, fins, snorkel, safety marker, and weight belt. Class meets Tuesday Sept 15, 22, and 29 for academic sessions and Thursdays Sept 17, 24 and Oct. 1 for pool days.

PADI S.C.U.B.A. Open Water Dive Course: Begins Tuesday September 15, 2015. This class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-8PM and Saturday and Sunday October 3&4th. This will be held at FGCU at a cost of $245. The MINIMUM number of participants is set at 4 people and the MAXIMUM number of participants is set at 7 people.
