Stephen Robinson

FGCU Outdoors Coordinator
srobinson@fgcu.edu

Steve is a native of sunny South Florida and a proud graduate of Florida State University. After completion of his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from FSU, he began putting his education and zest for adventure to work. He has worked as an outdoor education instructor in the mountains of Virginia, an adaptive ski/snowboard instructor in Park City, Utah, an adventure trip leader in North Florida, and a human resources coordinator at a small ski resort in Washington state.

As an avid outdoor recreation enthusiast, Steve believes that Florida's natural beauty and environment is a perfect setting for the students of FGCU to learn, recreate, and pursue adventure. When not busy working at the waterfront or leading adventure trips, you may find Steve kayaking the back bays and rivers of southwest Florida!

Deanna Cickelli

Waterfront/Outdoor Pursuits Program Assistant
dcickelli@fgcu.edu

Deanna was born and raised in Ohio.  She graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Integrated Language Arts.  Deanna moved to Florida in 2004 to pursue a career in education.  After teaching for three years in Lee County, Deanna realized she wanted to move out from behind her desk.  Her job search led her to FGCU and the Department of Campus Recreation.

Now after nearly a year with FGCU Outdoors, Deanna has hiked the Florida National Scenic Trail, led a snorkeling trip to Key Largo, spent 10 days in Tallahassee Florida in WFR training...just to name a few.  Although not a typical classroom environment, she still gets to interact and teach students everyday.

FGCU Outdoors Supervisor
rhtaurel@eagle.fgcu.edu

Richard, or better known to his friends as "Rick", is a native of Barbados and came to the United States specifically to go to school at Florida Gulf Coast University.  He is completing a major in Business Management which he hopes to receive in the Spring of 2010.  Richard has worked at the waterfront for approximately three years and brings his experience of island living the waters of the Lakefront.  Rick was originally drawn to Campus Recreation because of the positive interactions that exist between students and administrators.

At the waterfront, Richard is responsible for all operations of the FGCU Outdoors motorized boat.  Not only does he drive it three times per week but he also gives lessons on proper form and technique for wakeboarding.  Rick also gives beginning instruction on sailing.  Interested in learning more about what the waterfront has to offer, contact Richard.
