Advisory Council
Your Voice within FGCU Campus Recreation
What is the Advisory Council?
The Campus Recreation Advisory Council is a recommending body, which serves in an advisory capacity to the Director and staff of the Department of Campus Recreation. It represents a means of communication between the departmental staff and program participants, and provides a means for input from the students, faculty, and staff at Florida Gulf Coast University. The primary functions of the Council are to recommend policies/procedures pertaining to facility utilization and eligibility, program content, operation, and direction, and to advise the Campus Recreation staff of participant/customer concerns. Members of the Advisory Council are volunteers. The Advisory Council is a tremendous opportunity to have an important voice.
What are the Responsibilities of being a Council Member?
Individuals who are appointed to the Advisory Council are expected to assume the following functions and responsibilities:
- Attend scheduled Advisory Council meetings. There will generally be 3-4 meetings per semester and each meeting generally lasts approximately 60-75 minutes.
- Actively represent program participants within their respective areas with regard to issues relating to recreational programs and services provided through the Department of Campus Recreation.
- Meet regularly with representatives from designated areas and be prepared to report developments at Council meetings.
