Jason is originally from Indiana, but has lived in such places as rural Texas, east Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Florida. After attending the University of Tennessee, he transferred to Indiana University and graduated with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, Jason pursued a career in marine mammal behavioral training and research. This career took him from the frigid winters of the Midwest to the tropical climate of the Florida Keys. After several years in the Keys, Jason decided that it was time for a career change. In 2003, he moved to Massachusetts and obtained a degree in Movement Science from Westfield State College.
Jason now holds numerous fitness certifications, including: NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-HFI, Spinning, and is also a PADI Rescue Diver and a USATF Level II Running Coach. Jason manages the FGCU Fitness Center and oversees Group Fitness, Personal Training, and the Fitness Center Floor Staff. He also designs and implements Fitness Center programming such as Fitlab and Ultimate Fitlab. Come by the Fitness Center and talk with Jason today!

Tim is a graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Tim is orginally from Pittsburgh, PA and migrated to Florida in search of sunshine in October of 2007. His passion for the aquatics field brought him to FGCU. Tim is a Certified Pool Operator, Aquatics Facility Operator, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, and a Lifeguard Instructor. He has more than 10 years of experience in the aquatics field as a collegiate swimmer, swim coach, swim lesson instructor, water aerobics instructor, lifeguard, and aquatic manager.

Tia graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Leisure Services Programming and then attended the University of Tennessee where she received her Masters in Recreation Management and Administration (GO VOLS!!) She has been working in the Recreation field since the summer of 1998 when she traveled to Japan to work on a US military base running a summer camp program.
Originally from Iowa, Tia moved to Florida in 2004 to work at the FGCU Aquatics Center and to escape the cold of the North. In June of 2008, Tia accepted the position of Informal Recreation Coordinator for which she is responsible for supervising the Fitness Center front desk, the marketing department, special events, and student development. Tia enjoys her job because of her wonderful staff and because of the amazing growth of Florida Gulf Coast University and Southwest Florida.

Michael Howard is a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Mike is originally from Winter Haven, Florida. He came to FGCU on a baseball scholarship, which lead to him being the first hitter in FGCU baseball history. His passions for sports led him into intramural sports, where he excelled and eventually became the Intramural Coordinator.

Emma is originally from Rochester, New York where she attended The College of Brockport, a State University of New York. Following her passion for aquatics and programming, she received her Masters in Recreation and Leisure Services Management with a focus in Aquatics. Emma is very active and has ben playing Ice Hockey for 12 years. Go Sabres!

Steve is a native of sunny South Florida and a proud graduate of Florida State University. After completion of his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from FSU, he began putting his education and zest for adventure to work. He has worked as an outdoor education instructor in the mountains of Virginia, an adaptive ski/snowboard instructor in Park City, Utah, an adventure trip leader in North Florida, and a human resources coordinator at a small ski resort in Washington state.
As an avid outdoor recreation enthusiast, Steve believes that Florida's natural beauty and environment is a perfect setting for the students of FGCU to learn, recreate, and pursue adventure. When not busy working at the waterfront or leading adventure trips, you may find Steve kayaking the back bays and rivers of southwest Florida!

Ben is a native of the Sunshine State. Born and raised just down the road in Naples, Florida, Ben never wanted to leave the sandy beaches and warm weather. Ben graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Resort and Recreation Management. Ben worked for Campus Recreation during his entire undergraduate career so it was only natural for him stay and continue his experience in the dynamic field of recreation.
As the Sport Clubs Coordinator, Ben has the opportunity to work with clubs such as FGCU Hockey, Powerlifting, Lacrosse, and the Dancing Divas, just to name a few. Ben's mission is to help complete the University experience for the entire student body through participation in Campus Recreation sports and programs.
