While each multi-purpose room will have unique features and restrictions, generally multi-purpose space can be configured in a variety of set-up styles.  Listed below are the most common room configurations.  Your Event Planner can assist you with the best room layout for your event needs.

Multi-Purpose areas may be set up in many different styles including, but not limited to, Audience, Banquet, Board Meeting, Classroom, Workshop, U-Shape and Vendor.  You may even have a specifically designed layout for an event, in which you may be provided with a diagram for reference.  The following are basic layout instructions with capacities for the multi-purpose areas.

Audience Style

Audience style consists of rows of chairs.  You should always have an aisle in the middle as well as aisles for access on both ends.  If filling an entire room, you should also have a center aisle, creating four quadrants of chairs.  Capacities for audience style in any room may differ depending on other furniture set up in the room.  For example, the Ballroom maximum audience style is 450 chairs.  However, if the event will be using a state, head table, or have information tables set up throughout the room, the number of chairs will decrease.

Entire Ballroom at the Cohen Center: 450
Ballroom A OR B at the Cohen Center: 250

Banquet Style

Banquet style consists of 60" round tables with chairs (maximum of 10 to a table).  Capacities for banquet style in any room may differ depending on other furniture set up in the room.  For example, the Ballroom maximum banquet style is between 240-300 people depending on how many chairs are placed at each table.  However, if the event will be using a stage, head table, or have information tables set up throughout the room, the number of tables and chairs will decrease.

Board Meeting Style

Board Meeting style consists of 6' rectangular tables placed in a square large enough to accommodate the number of people required for seating.  Each table can seat two people, three people max.

Max capacities:
Entire Ballroom at the Cohen Center: Not recommended, may be a smaller set up within a larger set up
Ballroom A OR B at the Cohen Center: 35
Cohen Center 214: 30

Classroom Style

Classroom style consists of rows or 6' rectangular tables with chairs on one side of the tables facing the front of the room.  Each table can seat two people, three people max.  Capacities for classroom style in any room may differ depending on other furniture set up in the room.  For example, the Ballroom maximum classroom style is 200.  However, if the event will be using a stage, head table, or have information tables set up throughout the room, the number of tables and chairs will decrease.

Workshop Style (PODS)

Workshop style is making pods of work group areas within the room.  Take three 6' rectangular tables and place them side to side to make a square.  Place three seats along each of three sides of the square.  Capacities for workshop style in any room may differ depending on other furniture set up in the room.  For example, the Ballroom maximum workshop style capacity is 225.  However, if the event will be using a stage, head table, or have information tables set up throughout the room, the number of tables and chairs will decrease.

U-Shape Style

U-Shape style consists of 6' rectangular tables placed in a U-Shape large enough to accommodate the number of people required for seating.  Each table can seat two people.

Max capacities:
Entire Ballroom at the Cohen Center: Not recommended, may be a smaller set up within a larger set up
Ballroom A OR B at the Cohen Center: 25
Cohen Center 214: 20

Vendor Style

When using Vendor style, it is common that 6' rectangular tables are set up around the perimeter of the room and may have additional tables set up on the interior of the room.  Generally, two chairs are placed at each table.

Max capacities:
Entire Ballroom at the Cohen Center: 80 tables
Ballroom A OR B at the Cohen Center: 15 tables
Cohen Center 214: 15 tables
