College-Level Academic Skills (CLAS) Requirement Effective July 1, 2009
Prior to receiving an associate in arts degree or baccalaureate degree, students must demonstrate proficiency in the following College-Level Academic Skills (CLAS) areas:
English language, reading, and essay skills; and
Computation skills.
The CLAS requirement may be satisfied by:
Specified scores on the appropriate College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) subtests administered prior to July 1, 2009;
Specified scores on the SAT, ACT, or other approved examinations;
A combined minimum 2.5 grade point average or higher in specified coursework;
Credit-by-exam equivalencies for specified courses;
is approved by the appropriate FGCU waiver committee.

The CLAS requirement at FGCU is considered to be satisfied if a student provides an official transcript from a regionally accredited institution documenting the receipt of a baccalaureate degree or an official transcript from a Florida public institution documenting receipt of an associate in arts degree.
