The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction-Educational Technology program provides advanced study in education and is designed to improve the competency of K-12 teachers, to encourage appropriate research, and to initiate and implement programs involving public and private schools and community-based learning initiatives.

Admission Requirements


  • Graduation from a baccalaureate level program or a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university documented by official transcripts.
  • Submission of GRE or MAT scores.
  • Professional certification or completion of certification eligibility requirements, including course work and passing scores on the required Florida Certification Exams.
  • Successful performance in prior graduate coursework.
  • Submission of three favorable recommendations from professionals in the field.
  • Minimum score of 550 TOEFL or 6.5 on IETLS for international students who speak English as a second language.

    • EDG 6363* Capstone Seminar (3)

      *Capstone candidates will design, implement, and write one of the following: (a) a culminating scholarly review for an instructional project, (b) a design document for an educational technology product, or (c) a reflective review of their practicum. The capstone will be completed under the direction of a faculty advisor. Students are usually expected to complete the capstone project towards the end of their program of study.

  2. Recommended Fields of Study (12 hrs)

    In consultation with a faculty advisor, students may select from the recommended courses (12 hrs total) in the following fields of study. The specific courses selected will depend on student interests and career goals.

TOTAL SEMESTER HOURS REQUIRED: 36 HRS

Additional Graduation Requirements
  • Students must satisfactorily complete 36 credit hours specified by the graduate degree program.
  • A grade of B or higher must be earned in all College of Education graduate courses used as prerequisites and each course applied to the program.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in all work attempted.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all coursework in program.

Teaching Certification
Those who do not hold a current teaching endorsement must take courses and credits as required by their respective states. An individual counseling session will be arranged with each prospective candidate to discuss an individualized plan of study.

Transfer Notes and Acceptable Substitutes

The College of Education limits the transfer of coursework into its graduate programs to a maximum of three courses (no more than 12 credits in total). To be considered, courses must have been completed with a minimum grade of B and no more than seven years prior to the date of entry into the graduate program and no more than ten years prior to graduation from the graduate program.
