Program Admission Requirements

• Students must meet with a college advisor to declare a minor and review the course requirements.
• A grade of C or higher is required for all courses in the minor.
• A minimum of 12 credit hours of the minor must be completed at FGCU.
• Students desiring certification of a minor and designation on their academic transcript must verify that the minor is displayed on their Graduation Application.

Program Requirements

Complete the following (3 credits):

• LIT 4213 Literary Theory (3)

Complete one of the following:

• COM 3343 Rhetorical Criticism (3)
• LIT 3144 Modern European Novel (3)
• LIT 4353 Ethnic Studies (3)
• LIT 4853 Topics in Cultural Critique (3)
• LIT 4934 Advanced Topics in Critical Theory (3)

Complete one of the following:

• COM 3540 Persuasion and Propaganda (3)
• CPO 4076 Comparative Propaganda (3)
• POT 3003 Political Theorists (3)
• POT 3075 Culture and Politics (3)
• POT 4074 Theories of Power (3)
• POT 4932 Sp. Topics: Politics/Humanities (3)

Complete one of the following:

• PHH 3501 Marx, Freud and Other Heretics (3)
• PHH 3931 Special Topics in the History of Philosophy (3)
• PHH 4450 Hume, Kant, and Rousseau (3)
• PHI 3223 Philosophy of Human Communication (3)
• PHI 3930 Special Topics in Philosophy (3)
• PHP 3786 Existentialism (3)

Complete two additional electives from any of the above listed courses (6 credits)

TOTAL SEMESTER HOURS REQUIRED: 18 HRS

Transfer Notes and Acceptable Substitutes

Transfer credits will ordinarily be accepted from regionally accredited institutions and evaluated for appropriate credit towards requirements in the student’s degree program.
