The program is designed to prepare education related personnel for employment in the fields of child care and children's services for young children from birth to five and has the potential to meet the teacher certification needs of other grade levels as well. This degree program is a joint initiative between Florida Gulf Coast University and Edison College. An articulation agreement has been reached between the two institutions to allow Edison College AS degree graduates in Early Childhood Education to be admitted to the College of Education for the BS in Child Development. The agreement requires that Edison College AS graduates meet all General Education requirements before entry into the BS in Child Development.

Additional Graduation Requirements
A grade of C or higher in all College of Education courses with an overall GPA of 2.0 in all College of Education coursework and in all coursework attempted.
A minimum of 48 upper division hours (courses numbered 3000 and higher).
The COE limits the transfer of coursework into its upper-division, undergraduate programs. To be considered, courses must have been completed with a minimum grade of C and no more than five years prior to the date of entry into the College of Education undergraduate program.
Progression Requirements
Students must see their academic advisor for an approved plan of study and for permission to register for EEC 4942, Integrated Field Experience.
In order to be placed in a Final Internship, students must have passed all program courses except EEC 4936 which must be taken concurrently with EEC 4940, Final Internship.
