Dr. Christopher Westley joined FGCU from Jacksonville State University where he held the rank of Professor of Economics. He is an associated scholar at the Ludwig von Mises Institute. A native of Naples, Florida, he studied at the University of Florida and St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Texas, before receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Auburn University. He has also worked as a Summer Research Fellow at the Acton Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A prolific writer, Professor Westley has published more than 100 economics columns since receiving his Ph.D., including some that have appeared in Investor’s Business Daily, the Christian Science Monitor, several city-focused business and policy journals throughout the United States, as well as the Birmingham News, the Tuscaloosa News, the Montgomery Advertiser, and the Anniston Star. His scholarly articles have appeared in Economics and Politics, Constitutional Political Economy, the Eastern Economics Journal, the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, and the International Journal of Social Economics.
