Arianna S. Pinello is originally from Barcelona, Spain but spent most of her formative years (since the age of seven) in Hamburg, Germany. After graduating from high school in Germany, she came to the United States on her own as an international college student and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy at the University of North Florida. She became a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor and gained professional experience as a business assurance associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and as a senior internal auditor for international markets at Tupperware Corporate Headquarters. Dr. Pinello earned her Ph.D. in Accounting at The Florida State University. The dissertation she completed at FSU was the recipient of the 2005 Outstanding Dissertation Award of the Accounting, Behavior and Organizations Section of the American Accounting Association. Before joining the faculty at Florida Gulf Coast University, Dr. Pinello served on the faculty of Georgia State University for eight years. Her primary teaching areas are auditing and financial accounting and she was the recipient of FGCU’s 2015 Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Her research has been published in academic journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, Research in Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, The CPA Journal, and Advances In Accounting. Dr. Pinello is tri-lingual and an active member of the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
