Resources for New Adjunct Faculty

This page is designed to assist new Colloquium adjunct faculty in getting started teaching at FGCU.  If you have questions or suggestions for additional items for this page, please contact the QEP Office.

Transcript/curriculum vitae:  before teaching your first class, request to have an official transcript sent from the institution where you received your highest degree.  Have the transcripts sent to the QEP Office.  Also, e-mail or bring a hard copy of your CV to the QEP Office.

Human Resources sign-on:  if this is your first time teaching at FGCU, you will need to complete initial hiring paperwork in the Human Resources Office.  New sign-on sessions are held in Howard Hall, room 221 on Mondays from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. and on Wednesdays from 2:30p.m. to 4:30p.m.  If you are unable to visit campus during these times, please contact Human Resources at 590-1400.

New hire paperwork is available and downloadable from the HR website at:  http://admin.fgcu.edu/stathtml/hr/packets.html.

Employee ID card:  after you have completed your HR sign-on and your name is listed in the online schedule of classes, you will be able to obtain an ID card.  This is the card you use to check items out of the Library.  The cards are available through Student Services in the first floor of the Student Union building, across from the information desk.

Contract:  the QEP Office will issue you a contract for the Colloquium class(es) you are teaching.  The sooner you sign the contract, the sooner it will be input into the payroll system and the sooner you will receive your first check!

Network logon/e-mail address: we will request a network logon and e-mail address for you.  The first time you log on to the university network and e-mail, you must do so from an on-campus computer.  After your initial logon, you can access e-mail from any computer with internet access at http://email.fgcu.edu/.

To e-mail your class, send an e-mail to the address crnxxxxx@eagle.fgcu.edu.  For example, if your class CRN is 12345, you would send the email to crn12345@eagle.fgcu.edu.

Gulfline access:  after your HR sign-on is complete, you will receive in the mail a logon and password to access Gulfline.  This is the program where you can access your class roster, enter students' grades at the end of the semester, and view your payroll information.  Once you receive your ID and password, you can access Gulfline at http://gulfline.fgcu.edu/.

If you need to review your class roster prior to receiving your Gulfline access, please contact QEP Program Director Mary Ann Zager.

Keys:  the QEP Office will provide you with a swipe card which will open any of the classroom doors on campus.  To obtain a key that will open the electronic podium in the classroom, you will need to contact Information Technology directly.  They can be reached at 590-1700.

Parking:  starting in fall semester 2006, adjunct instructors do not need to purchase a parking permit. Permits will be provided by the university for any semester in which you teach. The QEP Office will notify Parking Services that you are teaching as an adjunct and you can pick up your parking pass from the Parking Services building on the main entrance road.

Mailboxes:  a mailbox can be set up for you in building Academic V, room 209.  This room is open and accessible for you and your students during and after regular business hours.

If you are teaching another class on campus you will likely be assigned a mailbox in another location by one of the Colleges.  If you would prefer NOT to have a mailbox in Academic V, please notify the QEP Office.
