Principal, Sunshine Elementary School Date: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 Speaking Focus: Education
Dr. Winston Bishop is the principal of Sunshine Elementary School in Lehigh Acres. Dr. Bishop earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at Alabama A&M University. He earned a Master of Education from Alabama A&M University with a biology concentration, and a Master of Education from Florida Gulf Coast University in Educational Leadership. He completed his Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.
Since 1993, Dr. Bishop has been committed to education. He currently provides leadership that ensures continuous improvement in measurable student performances and achievement in the larget elementary school in the district.
Dr. Bishop has also worked as assistant principal at Tice Elementary Magnet School in Fort Myers, and Harns Marsh Elementary School in Lehigh Acres where he established a school-wide Professional Learning Community based upon DuFour and Eaker. This conceopt of professional learning communities is defined as a group of connected, highly qualified and engaged educators passionately driven by change and "ongoing action" in which professional learning communities actively seek to involve parents and students in significant way.
Dr. Bishop serves on various committees, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. as the President; St. John First Missionary Baptist Church as the Director of Choirs; and Outstanding Young Men of America.
