Secure PC
What is Secure PC?
Secure PC is a program offered by FGCU’s Computing Services Department. The program involves initiating multiple security protocols on a user’s PC. The Security Protocols involve restricting unauthorized installation of software. This helps prevent viruses and spyware from installing on a users machine without his or hers knowledge. Another feature of Secure PC is the ability to customize a User’s computer to the specific needs of the Department. This allows each Department to determine what software is deemed acceptable for work use.
- Restrict downloading non-work related programs AIM, Weather bug, Yahoo Messenger, and PC Games
- Restrict access to non-work related websites Myspace.com, Facebook.com, and Adult only sites
- Stop harmful software from mistakenly being loaded onto your computers Spyware, Malware, Adware, Key loggers, and Viruses
- Increase overall productivity due to fewer incidents of downtime related to malicious, incompatible or poorly designed software
