Wirelessly synchronize your FGCU Faculty/Staff e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks in real-time to your mobile phone using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync with your mobile device. See below for complete recommendations and instructions.
Prerequisites
You must have a data connection via the Internet or Wi-Fi.
You must have a mobile device that supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
You must have an FGCU Faculty/Staff E-mail account
Set up Synchronization
On a Windows Mobile based phone, click Start > Programs > ActiveSync > Menu > Add Server Source or Configure Server.
Enter your FGCU e-mail address.
Select "Attempt to detect Exchange Server Settings automatically," and click Next.
In the Server Address field, enter webmail.fgcu.edu
Put a check in the box beside "This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection," and click Next.
Enter your FGCU user name, password, and domain name (FGCU_PRIMARY).
Put a check in the box beside "Save password", and click Next.
Put a check in the boxes beside the information that you want to sync with the Exchange server.
Upon initial synchronization, accept security policies for the device.
Customize Synchronization Settings
To change synchronization settings, select the type of information, and click Menu > Settings.
To set rules for resolving synchronization conflicts, click Menu > Advanced.
Click Finish.
Start, Stop, or Check Status of Synchronization
Click Start > Programs/All Programs > ActiveSync.
Click Sync, or Stop (sync), or Menu > Status.
Cell Phones with Exchange ActiveSync per Carrier

Some phones can connect with ActiveSync using an application called REMO Sync that needs to be downloaded.
According to Verizon Wireless technical support, they do not currently offer any phones that support Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Verizon’s Windows Mobile based phones do not have ActiveSync.
Verizon has an ActiveSync application called RemoSync that works with some of their phones.
