Objective of Agency: To educate about shells and mollusks, and the shell-makers, through exhibits, educational programs, library services, and publications, to further awareness of nature and the natural environment, to promote collection-based research on shells and mollusks with emphasis on southwest Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

Job Description:

Museum/Science Center & Environment: Opportunity for volunteer docents to help in the Great Hall of Shells (main exhibition hall) as combination guide/info people/guards. Most shifts are once a week or once every two weeks from 10am to 1pm or 1pm to 4pm. Environment: Opportunity for science and/or education majors to lead tours of adults or school children, or give slide shows/lectures. Volunteer may help as little or as ofter as their schedule allows as museum gives several tours each week. Animals/Malacology & Taxonomy: Experts needed to catalogue mollusk database in the museum collection department.
