The Lee County Library System is the public library for Lee County. It provides materials and services at its 12 libraries located in Bonita Springs, Captiva, Cape Coral, Dunbar, downtown Fort Myers, Estero, Lehigh Acres, North Ft. Myers, Pine Island, Riverdale, and south Lee County. The library system offers public access to electronic resources, including the Internet, for children and adults at each location. Outreach Services provides access to library services through the Bookmobile, Books-by-Mail, Family Literacy, and Talking Books Library.

Job Description:

Opportunities for Computer Class Assistant and Computer Coach.  COMPUTER CLASS ASSISTANT: Tech savvy? Enjoy helping others? We are looking for students needing to complete Service Learning hours to graduate. This is a short term commitment for volunteers to provide assistance with hands-on instruction. You will not be leading the class, but helping attendees follow the instructor's lead. Variety of class dates from November 2011 through March 2012. Daytime class hours only are 9am to 1pm or 12:30 to 4:30pm.  COMPUTER COACHES: Computer savvy individuals who assist library customers in using the library computers, electronic resources, software applications, and the Internet. They assist novice users set up e-mail accounts, use a mouse, navigate the Internet, and print out information. This is one-on-one assistance and troubleshooting that requires a commitment of at least two hours a week. Successful Computer Coaches are comfortable using the computers and the Internet, have patience with novice users, and can explain computer operations in simple terms. Library staff instruct Coaches on the basics of using the library's various electronic resources. Fill out a volunteer application at any library and ask for an interview.

Time students can perform services depends on activity and location. Please allow a minimum of three weeks to process paperwork before student can begin volunteering. The library system offers students opportunities to work in a stimulating environment with a highly motivated staff.
