HOSTS-Memorial Elementary/Arcadia, FL
||HOSTS stands for Helping One Student To Succeed. HOSTS is a structured academic mentoring program for language arts which provides individual help by using community and student volunteers to mentor children. HOSTS is the only learning system referred to by name in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Each student's learning needs are carefully diagnosed and the student's strengths and areas to be developed are noted. An individualized lesson plan is then designed by the HOSTS instructor for each student. The plans are placed in easy-to-use student folders that direct the mentor and the student as they spend time together in shared learning experiences.
