The mission of the Literacy Council Gulf Coast is to assist adults and children to acquire the literacy skills necessary to improve their quality of life. To accomplish its mission, the Council recruits and trains volunteer adults (18 years or older) to be tutors. We teach adults English, basic reading, GED preparation and US Citizenship classes. We also teach mothers and their pre-school children English in our Moms and Tots Family Literacy Program at seven sites throughout Lee County. We also offer worksite literacy for employees at 11 area golf and gated communities. |
| Job Description: |
Attend six hour tutor training. Meet with individual students or teach a class twice a week for one to two hours per class. Pre-school teacher/helper for children of Moms & Tots Family Literacy Programs: lead children in pre-school activities, such as singing,reading,playing games, doing crafts. Classes meet twice a week at seven locations throughout Lee County. Serve as basic computer instructor. Also serve as marketing/PR and event planning assistant |
