Quality Life Center of Southwest Florida, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Florida. The Mission of Quality Life Center is to strengthen family and community and instill personal pride, through programs and institutions that cultivate self development, teach self-esteem, and promote cultural appreciation. Since 1992, Quality Life Center has provided programs that support education, youth enrichment, personal development, and social services for at-risk–youth and their families in the Fort Myers, Lee County area. Our AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM consists of homework assistance, standardized test preparatory lessons, visual and performing arts, computer skills workshops, mentoring program, leadership and life management skills and an athletic program for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATION SERVICES provides free tutorial services in reading and math, to qualified children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our SOCIAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT provides counseling (individual and group) and case management to: • Children ages 10 to 17 (and their families) who have met the following criteria’s: ungovernable, runaway and truants. • Anyone 18 and over who has had a chemical dependency (drug and alcohol) problem. We provide SCHOLARSHIPS for graduating high school seniors who are pursuing a higher education.
ACCOUNTING/FINANCIAL • Data entry and review of accounts • Assist with Departmental budgets and cash flow projections • Assist with Accounts payable and accounts receivable. ARTS • Teach and assist in our performing arts program which strives to expose students to all of the arts (visual, performing and fine arts). • Includes workshops in dance, drama, vocal, music, drawing, painting, craft, etc. ASSISTANCE (SOCIAL SERVICES) • Assist and accompany our social service staff to gain experience in Case management and counseling. • Accompany staff on home visits. • Assist with program development. • Creation of flyers and brochures for programs. BOARD/COMMITTEE WORK • Assist in developing minutes and work on special projects that the board comes up with • Research, data gathering and reports. COMPUTER/WEB • Monitor computers in technology center. • Installation of software and system monitoring. ENVIRONMENT • Creation of an environmental program to teach young people environmental awareness and conservation. • Create and run a gardening program on our site for the students. FUNDRAISING/MARKETING/PR • Assist with grant writing proposals. Research and writing. • Creation of letters, newsletters, fundraising packets, etc. for potential donors FGCU CAMPUS • Facilitate tours of FGCU campus and classes for our students focusing on the different subject areas and career paths. (Health, Education, Environmental, Communications, Arts etc.) HEALTH/HEALTH EDUCATION • Creation of a Health Education program focusing on the needs of youth and their families in the area of health awareness and prevention, nutrition, dental, mental etc. • Exposure to the health and career programs offered by FGCU (Nursing, Physical therapy, social work etc.) MENTOR • To mentor youth in our after-school and social service programs. MUSEUM/SCIENCE CENTER • To facilitate trips to various museum and science centers in the Southwest Florida area. PUBLICATIONS • Assist with our monthly newsletter. • Write articles for community publication. SPORTS/COACHING • Organize athletic programs. (Basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, swimming, football, martial arts, double-dutch jump rope, cheer leading, volleyball, soft-ball, track and field, yoga.) TUTOR • For our after-school and Saturday programs.
