Details: Lee County Special Olympics' mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for person eight years old and older with mental retardation and development disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Job Description: Volunteers are the backbone of the Special Olympics program. The students can fill a wide variety of roles for Special Olympics from the local training program to the state events as coaches, assistants, timekeepers, administrative assistants, public information and promotions , and many other opportunities. Above all, the one-on-one interactions are the most fulfilling. The students will experience working with individuals and families with various disabilities.
