||Planned Parenthood of Collier County (PPCC) is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive reproductive health care services and educational programs that focus on issues surrounding sexuality. PPCC advocates for public policies that advocate for reproductive rights and comprehensive sexuality programs, locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.
||There are several opportunities available. Departments include public affairs/advocacy, education, medical, reception, and fundraising/development.
Public Affairs - Includes such tasks as newsletters, writing support letters, articles, public policies and political information, promoting PPCC throughout the state.
Education - Based on programs offered at the time of a student's service-learning. Education can include preparing, helping, and coordinating workshops, trainings and special events, attending meetings, evaluation of programs, teen education, coordinating and updating resource materials, and special projects.
Medical - Experience working with clients and services specific to reproductive health care.
Fundraising - Including helping with mass mailings, helping the director of development with task necessary for fundraing efforts.
Each department works together to ensure that all client needs are met. With all departments comes administrative work to ensure that the staff can work efficiently and effectively. At PPCC there is also room for creativity and learning. PPCC volunteers are asked to fill out an application and proceed with a small orientation process.
Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida has a volunteer opportunities available for FGCU students on campus in the community. Complete your service learning hours by being a community representative for Planned Parenthood at table events both on and off campus, work on national campaigns getting petitions signed and educating the public, or show-off your talents by taking on a project management assignment. ||PPCC provides a learning environment that includes trained staff, working with diverse populations, educational opportunities, and friendly faces. The atmosphere is pleasant and PPCC does the best to work with volunteers around scheduling and individual needs.
