Details: The Sugden Community Theatre is home to The Naples Players, a 501(c)(3), nonprofit community theatre, serving the Naples area for 50 years. The Sugden Community Theatre has two indoor performance spaces, Blackburn Hall which seats 325, and Tobye Studio which seats just under 100. Annually, we perform seven productions in Blackburn Hall and four in Tobye Studio. Additionally performances of the Classic Chamber, the Jazz Society, and Films on Fifth are held at the theatre.

The Naples Players has a membership of over 300 volunteers who build sets, create, costumes, operate the technical equipment (lights, sound, rigging, spots), and who sing, dance, and act. Another 250 volunteers are members of The Naples Players Theatre Guild who primarily fundraise and support the usher program.

KidzAct, the youth theatre program serves children ages 4-18 in a variety of performance classes. KidzAct performs five plays or musicals annually. The youth theatre program has a projected enrollment of 300 students for the upcoming school year.
Job Description: Students could be involved in a variety of ways depending upon their interests. The commitment for an actor ranges from 6 weeks of rehearsal to 3-5 weeks of performances, fives days per week. Technical or crew positions extend over 4-6 weeks. Students assisting with the youth theatre program would be involved for either a full term (spring, summer, fall) or could work a specific production.

To be a volunteer actor, a student must audition and be cast in a role. To volunteer in a running crew position, a student would need to contact the Manager of Volunteer Services and together, determine the best job for the student in terms of time availability and desired skills to be learned. If a student is interested in assisting with a KidzAct program, the student would need to be interviewed by the Youth Theatre Coordinator.

Students could expect appropriate training and supervision for their volunteer interests. Shorter term commitments could be in areas of set construction, costume construction, or props.
