The Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves are actually five contiguous aquatic preserves within the greater Charlotte Harbor estuary complex to be designated by Legislature for inclusion in the aquatic preserve system under the Florida Aquatic Preserve Act of 1975. The preserves are the Lemon Bay Aquatic Preserve in the north, to Cape Haze Aquatic Preserve and Gasparilla Sound - Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve, to Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve and Pine Island Sound Aquatic Preserve in the south. |
| Job Description: |
The Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves is seeking individuals to assist with the Seagrass Monitoring program during the Fall season (September-November). Volunteers will have an opportunity to see first hand the aquatic resources of Charlotte Harbor and participate in the protection of this critical habitat. Volunteers will help tremendously by assisting with data collection in the field. Site locations range from Lemon Bay south to San Carlos Bay and participants will get to see the beauty of the Charlotte Harbor estuary up close and in person. In addition, volunteers are ecouraged to call our office for other opportunities available throughout the year. |

No experience necessary. Those interested should be comfortable in & on the water and able to work in sometimes hot, remote environments. Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, bathing suit, and towel are recommended. Pack a lunch and cold drinks. Volunteers must be available for the entire day. |
