ArtFest Fort Myers
||ArtFest Fort Myers, Inc. is a not-for-profit arts and cultural organization whose mission is the creation of pubic access to a broad array of visual art; nurturing the development and understanding of diverse art forms; supporting arts in education and encouraging the appreciation of the arts in Southwest Florida. Producing the annual Fort Myers art festival, centered around a Juried Fine Art Show, is our core activity. ArtFest Fort Myers is 9 years old, takes place the first weekend in February each year, is free to the public, brought 50,000 attendees to downtown Fort Myers in 2008, featuring 208 exhibiting artists, performing arts, interactive art activities, a showcase for other art organizations, a high school art exhibit/competition with cash/scholarship awards, sends festival artists to middle schools to teach for a day, and provides grant opportunities for elementary school art teachers.
||ArtFest Fort Myers has several options for interns and volunteers. Internships can accommodate a flexible 4 - 12 hours per week, beginning in the fall, with a festival weekend (Feb. 6, 7, & 8, 2009) 8 hour days preferred. Opportunities are also available for students interested in earning 30 hours, or less, over festival weekend. The Communications Intern is responsible for a variety of day-to-day Public Relations duties in the ArtFest Fort Myers festival office. She/he will work closely with the Assistant Festival Director and Festival Director to insure that all information related to art festival activities is disbursed to the media in a highly professional manner. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, updating/distribution of Press Releases and assisting in the creation of "Public Events", creating our on line image, soliciting in-kind donations, and development and updating of festival publications/materials.
Event Team Intern
The Event Team Intern joins an exciting group that is responsible for working together to create Fort Myers largest two-day outdoor festival. Team members will work closely with the Assistant Festival Director and Festival Director to insure that all pre-event information related to art festival activities is prepared and disseminated in a highly professional manner, and be very involved in the behind the scenes logistics of this event. Duties and responsibilities include organizing and collating all necessary materials for Artists, Steering Committee and Volunteers, Sponsor Service coordination, Vendor/City Support coordination and Block Captain team support.
Festival Weekend Volunteers
Opportunities are varied and hours can range from a 4 hour shift to a full 40 hour week. Duties vary from behind the scenes operations to supporting one of our many on site weekend activities and can often be tailored to the students interests/studies.
